Play Therapy

My Approach

It is an honor and a joy to be a child therapist.

I use my heart with each child that I work with, since so much of the goal of therapy is to help your child feel strong at heart. We lay the foundation for this by creating a space that is free of judgement or pressure for your child to be anyone other than themselves; one instead that is welcoming and celebratory of who they are. I pay close attention to how fully each child is able to show up as themselves, and then I find ways to meet them where they are and offer ingredients and opportunities for healing and growth.

I also use my mind with each child that I work with. I think about how the intersection of their community, family, brain, and body influences their experience, what they most need help with, and what might be the most effective and life-giving place for us to start. I draw from several different theoretical orientations in my work with children. You are welcome to read more about these in the Conceptual Framework section.
